Pre-Requisites: Overview | Course Length: 5 hours

Data session describes how to load and store data in the system using Synygy’s built-in extract-transform-load (ETL) functionality. Topics include:

  • use of the Synygy data repository
  • how to define fields and tables
  • how to define processes to load data from almost any data source, including database tables, text files, and salesforce.com
  • use of time management and versioning to manage data and definitions over time
  • use of effective-dating

Pre-Requisites: Data | Course Length: 5 hours

Compensation session describes how to perform calculations and other data manipulations that determine compensation within a plan. Topics include:

  • types of calculations and data manipulations available
  • how to define processes to perform calculations and data manipulations
  • considerations for organizing processes in a plan, including the use of process dependencies to determine the order in which processes are run

Pre-Requisites: Compensation | Course Length: 1 hours

Models session describes how to use models functionality to create different “environments” for purposes like testing changes to the system; modeling plan changes, etc. Topics include:

  • how to use a model to make changes to objects without copying the “live” production system, and without affecting the “live” objects
  • how to add and work within multiple models
  • how changes made to an object in a model can be made “live” with a click of a button

Pre-Requisites: Compensation | Course Length: 5 hours

Reports session describes how to create reports in Synygy software as well as how to load reports from outside of the system. Topics include:

  • use of the Synygy report repository
  • how to add and work within multiple models
  • how to define processes to load or create reports in different formats
  • how to use built-in report validation features

Pre-Requisites: Reports | Course Length: 1.5 hours

Jobs session describes how to fully automate the running of processes in Synygy software using jobs. Topics include:

  • how to define jobs to run processes in the future, including on a recurring basis
  • considerations for organizing items in a job, including the use of item dependencies to determine the order in which items are run

Pre-Requisites: Jobs | Course Length: 5 hours

Portals session describes how to configure Portal and make reports available to Portal users. (Separate training sessions cover making other content available through Portal.) Topics include:

  • how to use features to customize Portal content for different users
  • how to use features to secure the report content made available to users

Pre-Requisites: Portals | Course Length: 5.5 hours

Data Access session covers features in Synygy software to make data from the Synygy data repository available to Portal users for viewing and adjusting. Topics include:

  • how to configure what fields of data are shown and default sort orders
  • how to control what records of data are displayed to an individual user
  • how to configure “drill down” features (a link in one record that leads to a set of related records)
  • how to configure data adjustment options (add, edit, delete) available to a user
